Gariep Dam (the youngest town in South Arica) is perhaps better known for the man-made Hendrik Verwoerd Dam. The name was officially changed on 4 October 1996 to Gariep Dam. Today there are more than 600 permanent residents living in Gariep Dam town.
Gariep Dam is the most central point of South Arica. The road network connect Towns and Provinces of the Free State, Eastern Cape and the Northern Cape.
Therefore it is ideal for a sleep over or even a holiday destination.
